ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS, WINTER 2001, WEEK 4

Danny, Dale & Barry1 departed and Barry Abbott ("Bone Idle") and Barry Read ("Barry2") took their places (we only allow a maximum of 2 Barrys at any one time!) We all boned-up by Wednesday (Bone Idle lost several earlier in the week and let the side down somewhat by shark fishing, all be it with a spinning rod!) The moderate winds, now mainly from the east-south-east allowed us some great opportunities to catch bigger bones on the Ocean-side flats but it was never easy (if it was we wouldn't be doing it!).......

Sunday, a cove on the Ocean side: Barry2 hooks a bonefish...and loses it! Bone Idle hooks a trigger fish... ...meanwhile Barry2 hooks another bone... ...but it's only a baby..... .....but then he hooked another one at GHB.... .....a bigger fish - about 2lb BfG with a slightly bigger fish from the Atlantic side Monday: beach BBQ courtesy of Steve & Cindy Smirnoff Tuesday: a 4lb bone from N Eleuthera (1 of 3 BfG caught on a day off 'work') Wednesday: BfG with another 4lb bone from N Eleuthera (Chris caught 4 to 4¼lb - photos to follow) Friday: BfG with a 4½lb bone off Harbour Island.... ....being revived prior to release..... ....and Chris with a 4lb bone...... ....lets see it again - happiness is a bone in your hand! Last night at Rainbow Inn (until March 2002)

For those who are interested in statistics:

During the week we all caught bonefish, 29 in total: Doc caught 5 to 4lb, Chris (now known as "bone-boy" caught 8 to 4¼lb, Bone Idle: 2 to 3½lb, Barry2: 4 bonelets and BfG 10 to 6lb+ (average 3¾lb). Total for the 4 weeks: 109 bonefish, all on fly, average 2½lb.
